HOW TO REACH UDUPI

 UDUPI is known all over the world, because of its temple, food and Udupi restaurants. Udupi District was formed in 1998. It has a Railway Station (Konkan Railway) with direct trains coming to Udupi from Mumbai, Delhi, Rajkot and Ahmedabad. Nearly 30-40 buses run daily from Mumbai, (18 - 20 hours of journey) - via Ankola, Kumta, Bhatkal, Dharwad and Belgaum. There are 2 flights daily from Mumbai and from Bangalore. The Airport is located at Bajpe 60 kms away from Udupi. Taxis are available and it is hardly 1 hour journey from the airport to Udupi.

Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka is one night journey from Udupi. About 100 buses ply on this route. Manipal, the heaven of students is only 5 kilometres away from Udupi and there are buses every 2 minutes. Mangalore Port City is only 50 km away from Udupi. Express buses ply between Mangalore Udupi at an intervals of 3-4 minutes throughout the day.

The district is well facilitated with local telephone services, apart from STD/ISD. Cellular phone companies operate hear. The important cities of Karnataka nearby states are connected with State buses from Udupi-Mangalore

Swagatha GopuraThe Udupi Sri Krishna Temple, which is synonymous with the name Udupi, is situated in the Car Street, the hub of religious activity. This is surrounded by the Eight  Matts, founded by the disciples of The great sage Sri Madhwacharya. Also present in car street are the representatives of Centuries old Shiva sect. The temples of Sri Anantheshwara and Sri Chandramoulishwara are thronged by thousands of devotees. An interesting point to be noted is that Udupi is divinely protected by temples situated all around Sri Mahisha Mardhini Temple Kadiyali, Sri Indrani Devi Temple. Indrali, Sri Durga Temple Kunjalugiri, Sri Vishnumoorthy Temple Kannerpady, Sri Mahakali Temple Ambalpady.
